We are seeking motivated postdoctoral researchers to lead key projects in the lab while continuing their scientific training. Wet lab, field, and computational opportinties are all available.
Start date of Sept 1st 2024. Positions are open until filled. See here for complete details.
We have a variety of exciting projects for postdoctoral associates, including:
If a potential postdoc has a specific vision for a different project in the general area of adaptation/speciation, I would also be happy to discuss possibilities. We work with sticklebacks, Arabidopsis, and Drosophila, but other systems would be very welcome.
A PhD in Biology, Genetics, Evolution, or a related field is required. Experience with molecular biology techniques is strongly preferred. We can fully train candidates in computational, bioinformatic, and statistical skills.
First, have a look at the recent papers from the lab and see if what we are doing is interesting to you! Next, get in touch with Dr. Samuk with a CV and a short message about your education, experience, and some ideas about the research you'd be interested in conducting in the lab (the projects listed in the Details tab, or your own idea). We look forward to hearing from you!
We are always seeking to recruit enthusiastic PhD students to learn and study along with us in the lab. All graduate positions in the lab are fully funded. Dr. Samuk will work with you to develop an individual research project spanning ~5 years, alongside your coursework.
Currently recruiting for Sept 2025 start dates (application deadline ~December 2024). See here more details.
The core of a graduate degree is developing and carrying a thesis research project. In the Samuk lab, projects generally evolve around the following themes:
You can choose to work on sticklebacks, Drosophila, or another related system, in the lab and/or the field. Projects focusing on other topics related to evolution/behavior/genetics are also welcome.
A BSc is required, and a degree in Biology, Evolution/Ecology, Genetics, Psychology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is strongly preferred. As of 2021, the GRE is no longer a requirement for application to the graduate program at UC Riverside.
